Claire looked every bit the angelic daughter. She entered
Grange Hill with Shirley Temple-like curls and her parents
were proud of their model child. At school, however, Claire
was a completely different person. She was headstrong,
sometimes bolshie but by no means a rebel. Her parents
placed enormous academic pressure on her and this is where
the problems began. Mum frowned upon her friendship with
Suzanne Ross and was determined to hold on to her little
girl for as long as possible. But it all blew up in her
face; Claire developed into a forthright young woman who
has surely done well for herself.
