After blagging his way into the sixth form, Max uses his
seniority to affirm himself as THE bully of Grange Hill.
He gets his kicks from other people's misfortune and,
with brother Mooey, moves around Grange Hill with such
stealth that his victims don't really notice until it's
too late. Where his brother is the brawn, he's the brains.
Max is a shark and is not afraid to throw his weight around
if his reputation is in danger. A reputation which carries
less weight now most have seen him for the buffoon he
really is. His mum is a vicar - something Max is keen
to keep quiet...
Year 9 Max is not central
to the storyline in but tries unsuccessfully to avenge
Togger for grassing him up. All Max's efforts get him
is a spell in homework club.
Year 10 Max takes advantage of Martin and forces
him to do his homework. When Kathy convinces Martin
of his intentions, Max punches Martin when he attempts
to stand up to him. Baz and Kathy warn him off.
Year 11 The feud between Baz and Max escalates.
Baz challenges Max to abseil from the school roof, but
Max falls and breaks his arm. Both are excluded.
Year 12 No-one can believe it when Max returns
to the sixth form. Max throws Donnie's PE kit in the
incinerator, causing the school to be evacuated. His
hardman reputation takes a knock when it emerges his
mum is a vicar!
Year 13 Max and Mooey push Alex close to the edge
once again, forcing him to steal from his friends and
to bully Bryn into stealing a fridge for them. Max's attempts
to brush off Chloe's advances are futile and he ends up
taking her to Kathy's party as his date - much to the
amusement of his peers! The Humphries are left outcasts
when Togger tells Miss Gayle what they've been doing to
Alex - a disgruntled Max takes his frustrations out on
Ross at the dance contest (he was due to be partnering
Karen) and spikes Martin's orange juice with vodka.
