Taylor Mitchell

School Days: 2004-2006 (as pupil); 2007 (as assistant caretaker)

Taylor returned to Grange Hill in 2004 after being excluded from several other schools. Cocky and arrogant, he didn't like school and made this very clear to classmates and teachers alike. He doesn't like authority and believes authority doesn't like him. But Taylor isn't lazy and is very passionate when it comes to causes he really believes in.

After an unsuccessful return to the sixth form, Taylor was offered the job of assistant caretaker and wants to really make a go of it. But with most of his friends still at Grange Hill as pupils - including old flame Karen, his loyalties are certain to be tested.

Year 10: Taylor returns to Grange Hill in the last chance saloon, and immediately stirs up trouble for Nick - who was involved in a racist attack on Taylor's friend. Taylor gets immense pleasure from winding up Mr Green but when Taylor skips detention, Mr Green loses it and hits him. Mrs Bassinger walks in and thinks Taylor is the guilty party.

Year 11: The year gets off to a bad start when Taylor is told he might not be entered for GCSEs. Karen uncovers his talent for music and he becomes one of the DJs on The Hill. Taylor is almost framed for the theft of a school laptop - then Annie is discovered trying to put it back.

Year 12: Taylor begs to be let back into the sixth form and Mrs Bassinger gives him an absolute last chance. He devises the E-Grange exchange which consumes most of his time and he starts missing lessons. It's the end of the road when Taylor misses a crucial deadline - but after E-Grange wins the enterprise competition, Mrs Bassinger offers him a job as assistant caretaker. Taylor is tempted but then Karen ends her faltering relationship with him.

Series 30: Taylor is bluntly reminded by Max he can no longer "sort him out" when the Humphries wreck Alex's smoothie stall. Taylor is wise to Year 9's attempts to sneak into the school on their "ghost hunt". He gives them all a stern talking-to but decides not to make the matter official.

ASSOCIATES: Nick Edwards, Mel Adams, Mr Malachay, Mrs Bassinger, Miss Gayle, Karen Young

CURRENT WHEREABOUTS: Several sightings reported - one in a Manchester sink estate, the other at another school in the area, while another unconfirmed report suggested he may have died in a Midlands hospital.
