Tom Smith

School Days: 1997-2002

Tom always had a lively imagination, and with this mischievous streak he was the rightful leader of the Double Dare Gang. Dad was in the army and the family moved around before settling in Northam; Tom went to the same primary school as Lisa and they'd always been good friends. At home, dad treated him like a squaddie so it's not surprising he could pull off dares with military precision;

Tom was never hugely bright despite working hard at school. Tom's militaristic upbringing meant he developed some negative traits of the forces; he would do things without considering the consequences and this could have had major implications in the situation with Leah. Thankfully Leah is recovering and they became friends again. Tom was always cheerful and forward-looking; and was popular with his classmates.

TOM'S SCHOOL REPORT
Year 7: Tom and Cracker set up the Double Dare Gang. His dares include getting Mrs Holmes "suspended" (hanging a skeleton dressed as her from the school roof) and streaking across the playground! Tom squares up to Alec for a boxing match, but runs off.

Year 8: Tom challenges Lisa to a snakeboard race. She wins, but is forced to admit she used a double. Tom is involved in the mouse racing scam.

Year 9: The lads gatecrash Lisa and Tracey's night out at Andy Tate's hotel, and are thrown out. The gang tries to rescue Gemma from her boarding school, and are stunned to hear she likes it there.

Year 10: The Double Dare lads take turns to date the girls. Tom is instrumental in the "alien invasion" dares which scare Mr Robson witless!

Year 11: Tom becomes infatuated with the very attractive Leah. She agrees to go out with him, but at Lisa's party he forces himself on her. Lisa defends Tom against Shannon's rape accusations but is stunned when he admits it.

Year 12: Tom and Leah become friends again. He gets a modelling job; Lisa realises she fancies him. Tom is slow to realise but they kiss just as the school blows up.

ASSOCIATES: Cracker Bacon, Lisa West, Matt Singleton, Tracy Long, Gemma Lyons, Leah Stewart.

CURRENT WHEREABOUTS: Speculation reigned that Tom was one of the fire victims. Thankfully he wasn't - and is now working towards university.
